How to Obtain a Syrian Birth Certificate from Abroad
Obtaining a birth certificate from Syria can be difficult when you live overseas or are helping a relative who cannot request it in person. Before arranging retrieval, it helps to establish whose record is needed, what information is available and which authority will receive the document.
SyriaDocs helps clients discuss document retrieval in Syria and arrange delivery abroad. Each request is assessed individually, including the document available, any authorisation required and the delivery route.
Start with the receiving authority’s requirements
Before ordering, ask the organisation requesting the certificate what it needs. A document intended for a marriage application, a residence procedure or a family matter may come with different requirements.
Where possible, obtain those requirements in writing. Check whether the authority needs:
- An original document or a particular type of extract.
- A document issued within a specified period.
- Authentication or legalisation.
- A translation into a particular language.
- A particular form of translation certification.
Share these requirements when making your enquiry. This helps us clarify the request before you pay for retrieval, delivery or translation.
What information should you prepare?
For an initial enquiry, tell us whose birth certificate is required and provide the information you already have. Useful details may include:
- The document holder’s full name in Arabic.
- Date and place of birth.
- Parents’ names.
- Details of the civil registration record, if known.
- A copy of an earlier certificate or relevant document, if available.
- The country where the new document will be used.
You do not need to have every detail ready to ask a question. We will clarify which information is necessary for your particular request. Please contact us before sending sensitive documents so we can explain what is needed.
Can you enquire on behalf of a relative?
Yes. You can contact us about a birth certificate for a relative or another person you represent.
Explain whose document is needed and your relationship to that person. We will confirm whether the request can proceed with the available information or whether additional authorisation or a power of attorney is required.
An initial enquiry does not establish entitlement to receive someone else’s records. The requirements must be checked for the specific case.
How does the process work?
First, send a brief description of the document you need, its intended use and the destination country.
We then clarify the available information, the possibility of retrieving the document and any additional procedures. Before proceeding, we agree on the scope of the service, the price and the estimated timing.
Once the document is obtained, delivery is arranged using the agreed route. If translation is needed, this can also be discussed before dispatch.
How long does retrieval take?
Our usual estimate for straightforward document retrieval is 2–3 working days after the necessary information has been received and the request confirmed.
This is an estimate, rather than a guaranteed deadline. Requests involving additional checks or procedures may take longer. Procedures involving embassies may take approximately 1–2 weeks.
Delivery time is separate from retrieval time and depends on the destination and the agreed route.
Can the document be delivered internationally?
International delivery can be discussed for destinations including Germany, the Netherlands, other European countries, the United States and Canada, as well as Russia and CIS countries.
Depending on the destination and service availability, arrangements may involve DHL, Aramex or another carrier. A route through Lebanon or Turkey may also be considered.
Tell us the receiving country, city and postal code. We confirm the available route, carrier, delivery price and estimated timing for your request before dispatch.
Will the certificate need translation?
Ask the receiving authority which language and form of certification it accepts before ordering a translation.
Avrin Group can help arrange translation from Arabic into English, German, Dutch, Russian or another language. Share the authority’s written requirements, including any instructions about certified or sworn translations, so the appropriate service can be confirmed.
How much does the service cost?
The price depends on the document, the information available, any additional procedures and the delivery destination.
Request a quotation before proceeding. Ask for retrieval, authentication or legalisation, delivery and translation to be identified separately where applicable, so you know what the agreed service includes.
Discuss your request
To enquire about a Syrian birth certificate, tell us:
- Who the document is for.
- Which information or earlier documents you have.
- Where and why the certificate will be used.
- The country and city for delivery.
